It takes 2,383 delegates to win the Democratic nomination for president. Here is where the race for those delegates stands:

PLEDGED DELEGATES

These are the delegates won in primaries and caucuses. At the party's national convention, these delegates must vote for the candidate who won them.

Hillary Clinton: 1,716

Bernie Sanders: 1,433

SUPERDELEGATES

These are elected and party officials who automatically attend the convention, and can vote for the candidate of their choice. The Associated Press has surveyed these delegates several times, and recorded their on-the-record endorsements.

These delegates, however, can change their minds.

Clinton: 524

Sanders: 40
