What can 9 out of 10 Americans agree on? Survey says: not much.

That's partly because the big polls such as Pew, Gallup and the General Social Survey are designed to explore differences, not to document what unites the United States. Still, a few questions discover 90 percent agreement, or close to it.

Americans nearly all:

_believe in God.

_are very patriotic.

_consider preventing terrorism a very important foreign policy goal.

_admire those who get rich by working hard.

_think society should ensure everyone has equal opportunity to succeed.

_think it's important to get more than a high school education.

_favor teaching sex education in public schools.

_find birth control morally acceptable.

_believe cloning humans would be morally wrong.

_believe it's wrong for married people to have affairs.

_are interested in keeping up with national affairs.

_believe it's their duty to always vote.
