SUTTON, Alaska (AP) — A 30-year-old Anchorage man was shot and killed while trying to take imagery of others shooting weapons near Sutton.

Troopers on Monday identified the victim as Adam C. Malaby, who was killed Saturday in the vicinity of Jonesville Mine Road.

Troopers in a web posting say he stepped into the line of fire of a person firing a .40 caliber pistol. The incident happened when Malaby was attempting to either photograph or take video of others shooting.

It wasn't immediately clear if Malaby was getting imagery with the permission of the shooters. Troopers' spokeswoman Megan Peters says in an email to The Associated Press that the situation is under investigation, and troopers haven't provided further information on the context of the incident.
