NEW YORK (AP) — The U.S. stock market is moving higher in midday trading, making back some of the ground it lost the day before.

Technology and health care stocks led the gains Wednesday. Apple, Microsoft and Intel had the biggest gains in the Dow Jones industrial average.

The Dow was up 114 points, or 0.6 percent, to 18,154 as of 11:45 a.m. Eastern time Wednesday. The index slumped 190 points on Tuesday.

The Standard & Poor's 500 index gained 14 points, or 0.7 percent, to 2,118. The Nasdaq composite climbed 46 points, or 0.9 percent, to 5,079.

Bond prices fell, pushing up the yield on the 10-year Treasury note up to 2.16 percent.
