Pastor Might Call Off Koran Burning if Obama Calls Him

Meanwhile, another pastor plans smaller burning

(Newser) – Terry Jones says he might reconsider his plan to burn Korans on 9/11—if he gets a call from President Obama. Jones says no one from the White House or Pentagon has contacted him, but that if anyone did "that would cause us to definitely think it over," he tells USA Today. “I don't think a call from them is something we would ignore.”

Of course, President Obama, General Petraeus, and Hillary Clinton have all publicly called for Jones to cancel the burning, but that hasn’t convinced him. “When do we stop backing down?” he asks. “In certain areas of the country, we have lost our backbone.” Meanwhile another pastor in Tennessee has said he too will burn a Koran on 9/11, the New York Post reports. It’ll only be one, and he'll do it in his home, but he promises to post a video of it online. “I believe that other religions are a threat,” he says.

Everyone seems to be making such a big deal of this intellectual pipsqueak for more than what he is. FIRST, he's a nothing, so why not treat him that way? So he burns the Koran ... does that really news that someone should insult a religion? ... happens every day. Why should our military or President help give this guy press, that a 50 member "church" should have even a passing notice? ONLY the media has a legitimate reason, and that is to sensationalize and dramatize for the sake of a story. None of this makes sense.

A couple of points 1) - I would bet that if the president did call this knucklehead minister and request him to not burn the Koran that some people would see that as "proof" that Obama is a secret muslim versus being a responsive leader. and 2) How can other religions be a "threat" to God's true religion - Christianity. If your religion is true, and if God is on your side then you have nothing to fear from other religions. If on the other hand you are threatened by the teachings of others maybe your faith or (gasp) your religion isn't really that strong.
