1.2M Toys Recalled at Chuck E. Cheese

No injuries so far, but one kid put battery up nose

(AP) – More than 1.2 million Chuck E. Cheese light-up rings and toy eyeglasses were recalled today over concerns that children might swallow the small battery inside the toys. The Consumer Product Safety Commission said the plastic on the toys can break, possibly exposing the button-type batteries inside. Ingestion could lead to stomach, intestine or esophagus problems or other damage. There were no reported incidents with the toy eyeglasses.

The commission did not link the toys to any reported injuries. But it said two children were able to remove the battery from the light-up rings. One child swallowed it; the other child put the battery up his nose. The 1.1 million light-up rings were part of a promotional offering between April 2009 and June of this year or were offered during parent-teacher association conventions. They came in blue, green, purple, yellow, and pink. The 120,000 toy glasses, shaped like stars, were part of birthday packages.

Perhaps if Uncle Sam (Gov) quit legislating the job of being a parent and delegate raising children back to the real parents. Yes initially we would loose a few kids but Darwin would rule out weeding away many who would be a burden otherwise when older. In the end we would have better educated parents as well as children and not be worried because two idiot children raised by 4 idiot parents failed to teach the child not to eat the f'in plastic toys or shove them up each others nose or where ever they shove them I am sick of the Gov spending billions and still failing in the end, cut the b/s cut the taxes and cut out interfering with parents and children, if the reporters have nothing better than to write articles about this crap we simply have to many reporters so fire a few of them as well

no lead in the metal?? no poisonous baby milk?? this recall happened because two kids were dumb enough to break the toy, take the battery out and either eat it or try to stuff it up their nose? I just wanted to clarify how stupid this "recall" is...
