Blast of Reality in 'Curb' Split

Posted Oct 23, 07 2:36 AM CDT in US Arts & Living

(Newser) – Fans who tuned in to this week's episode of Larry David's "Curb Your Enthusiasm" got an odd dose of real-life synchronicity when the writer-actor's TV wife left him, mirroring his own actual divorce. "This was all written before any of my marriage problems, but I knew when we were filming what was going on," he told USA Today. "Very weird."

The co-creator of "Seinfeld" and his wife, Laurie, divorced in July after 14 years of marriage. David's on-screen marriage dissolved after he blew off a call from his wife, on a turbulent airplane flight, because the "TiVo guy" showed up to fix the TV. Asked why he busted up the TV marriage, David explained: "Everyone kept asking, 'What is she doing with him?' I thought I'd answer the question."
