(Newser) – After Facebook photos of a brutal gang rape at a party went viral, police have made two arrests and are calling for a halt to the sharing of the images, which have been "spreading like wildfire," the lead investigator tells the Vancouver Sun. "The very public discussion about this victim and the taking and subsequent sharing of photos depicting this rape is disgusting, morally corrupt and criminal, " she said. "Those photos are child pornography."

Police say a 16-year-old girl was raped at a massive rave where she got separated from her friends. Facebook photos and YouTube video were posted within hours and quickly taken down after they had already begun spreading. A 16-year-old boy and 18-year-old man have been arrested but have not yet been charged, and investigators are pursuing three to five additional suspects.
