This has nothing -- nothing! -- to do with sex.   (AP)

(Newser) – Blonde ambition or blatant racism? That's the question surrounding a Lithuanian firm's plans to build a blonde resort in the Maldives. The property will be staffed, of course, by blondes—leaving locals to wonder if non-whites will be excluded, notes the BBC, "This is racist and should not be allowed in the Maldives," one observer says.

Not so, insist the project's (blonde) promoters: "When women with dark hair work here, they are surrounded by all these beautiful blondes, so eventually they end up going blonde, too.” Um, great? And, they say, the business will break barriers by battling that most cruel of stereotypes: dumb blonde. "Our girls are very smart." (Click here to read about another resort job: honeymoon tester.)

lets see a show of hands who will ever in their lifetime be able to even reasonable afford to go to the maldives? thats what I thought! yeah probably very NONE of you...actually most of you people couldn't point to Lithuania or the Maldives on a world map! this business move will not only never affect you, nobody is forcing you to work there nor is anyone forcing you to vacation here. Get over yourself let them have their blonde resort i for one have never heard of an idea so amazing in my life i would love to visit and spend all my money there it sounds like they are creating a dream locale for blonde lovers create your own brunette resort next door who cares? this is not a sexist move nor is it a racist move they are trying to create a place where you can vacation and see beautiful women is that so wrong????? When i can afford to go here i hope they let me in (i think the blond rule just applies to the women that work there not who visits....but even so i think men of any color will be allowed in =D )

I'm black and I say let them have their little hidey hole. People like that don't need to be with the rest of us. I don't want to do business with them, talk to them. And I especially don't want them pretending they're okay with me. I've had enough of those types tricking me into trusting that I'll be treated as an equal. There are enough traps to look out for without having to worry if you're being set up just because your eyes, hair and skin are brown. It's also possible that they'll infect each other with some sort of gene that's ultra susceptible to skin cancer. Wouldn't that be tragic?

It's probably different in Lithuania, but most blonds aren't even blond. They highlight or dye it away from that really awful dirty straw color that it turns when they're pre-teens. I have black hair, but you know what I don't see enough of? Natural brunettes with that rich milk chocolate brown color. Not too dark or too light, sometimes with a caramel or cherry hue. It's so rare, and the dyes that try to capture that color always look fake. It's a real shame that girls with that beautiful shade of brown hair are encouraged that blond is better.
