Well that was fast. Nancy Pelosi has officially thrown her hat into the race for the Democrats' minority leader post. "Driven by the urgency of creating jobs & protecting #hcr, #wsr, Social Security & Medicare, I am running for Dem Leader," Pelosi tweeted this afternoon. Earlier, there had been reports that Pelosi was canvassing the caucus to see if she had the support to run. For more, check the Huffington Post.

There's been much speculation over Pelosi's future, including the future of the Twitter account she sent that proclamation from. Pelosi's handle is @SpeakerPelosi, which will probably have to change when John Boehner becomes Speaker in January, the Washington Post notes. Some Republicans have even started a hashtag to gloat: #NewTweetNameForPelosi. (More Nancy Pelosi stories.)
