It might have gotten him onto the "front page of the New York Times without being dead or in jail or Charlie Sheen or something" but his suspension was no stunt, Keith Olbermann said on his return to MSNBC last night. "Of course," the Countdown host added, "If I had known all this would happen, I would have done this years ago!"

Olbermann—who stressed his gratitude to the 300,000 people who signed a petition calling for his reinstatement—said he didn't disclose his political donations because he didn't want to inspire a flood of donations from viewers, notes the Hollywood Reporter. "And then suddenly I'm fundraising for them passively or aggressively and we're accidentally Fox," he said. Click here for more on the Olbermann saga.
