(Newser) – If WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange thinks his latest release is a real shocker, he should “read up on the stuff we already know” about our government, Jon Stewart said last night on the Daily Show. This was a “less than searing indictment,” and he’s “underestimating how cynical Americans are about our government already.” Unless you’re going to prove aliens killed JFK, Stewart argues, “stop with the drama,” Gawker reports.

In addition the press was already reporting on Putin, Sarkozi, and Berlusconi's personalities for YEARS. I don't see why this is so scathing just because a governmental body echoed the same sentiments.

Stewart is right we kinda already knew our country does this sort of thing. But they will always have plausible deniability, "do you have any proof that we are spying on other countries?". The leaks remove plausible deniability.
