Fake Teeth Recalled on Halloween

$2 Chinese-made party favors turn out to contain dangerous lead

(Newser) – How's this for last-minute: The US government issued a recall of Chinese-made fake teeth—costume—today. The Consumer Product Safety Commission issued the recall for the $2 "ugly teeth" because of high levels of lead, the AP reports. The agency estimates that 43,000 packs of eight sets of the teeth have been sold since January.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi called this week for the resignation of consumer chief Nancy Nord over the millions of Chinese-made toys recalled in the past several months. Nord, in fending off Democratic attempts to boost the agency's  enforcement clout (and funding), insists she has no intention of resigning, the AP reports.

The recalled product, Ugly Teeth party favors, can be identified by the Universal Product Code 0-48419-65002-7, which appears below the bar code on the back of the package. (PRNewsFoto/Factory Card & Party Outlet Corp.)
