Fighters Throw Down With UFC

Nice guy Randy Couture calls it quits

Share

(Newser) – Ultimate Fighting's most public face, Randy Couture, recently sucker-punched the UFC when he unexpectedly quit, saying he was "tired of being taken advantage of." But Couture isn’t the only disenchanted fighter, reports Time. UFC president Dana White blames fame—and a “puke Hollywood agent”—for going to participants' heads.

UFC is succeeding wildly in a cable void left by boxing, but the sport is beginning to show its cracks with off-camera squabbles between White and his fighters, contract disputes, and now Couture's outburst. “Until Dana White is ready to fight me on a professional basis,” said one fighter, “I strongly urge him to keep his mouth shut."
