(Newser) – Authorities are still scrambling to find a motive behind the murder of a popular San Diego professor in Tijuana. Henry Acejo, who taught at three colleges in the San Diego area, was stabbed to death in his Mexico apartment late at night, reports AP. “He had a great sense of humor, a great love of life, and he loved his work and loved people," said a close friend.

A neighbor called police after hearing Acejo shout for help and pound his window, but when they arrived, Acejo was dead and the killers were already gone. Acejo's body was flown to the Philippines yesterday.

"Authorities are still scrambling to find a motive behind the murder of a popular San Diego professor in Tijuana." Uhhh, good luck with that. They really don't need 'reasons' or 'motive' there. It really is just the way they live.

“He had a great sense of humor, a great love of life, and he loved his work and loved people," said a close friend. But he wasn't smart enough to stay out of Mexico!
