Parker Spitzer to Lose Kathleen Parker? Show's ratings haven't improved since debut By Matt Cantor, Newser User Posted Jan 10, 2011 6:48 AM CST 7 comments Comments In this publicity image released by CNN, Kathleen Parker, left, and Eliot Spitzer, hosts of the CNN prime-time show "Parker Spitzer." (AP Photo/CNN, Art Streiber) (Newser) – CNN may replace Kathleen Parker on its Parker Spitzer show, which has posted weak numbers against competitors, sources tell the Wall Street Journal. CNN lost a third of its evening viewers last year, and the 8pm show has struggled to grow its audience in the three months since its launch. Parker Spitzer has averaged 468,000 viewers in recent weeks, the same as when it began in October. In the same time slot, Fox News pulls in 2.6 million viewers, while MSNBC garners 874,000. “We still think that form of show is the right idea for a network like CNN at 8 o'clock, but the execution has not been what we have been happy with up to date,” said the CEO of CNN parent company Turner Broadcasting last week. “It is a work in progress. We are trying to make that show better," though it’s already "a very, very smart show." As for the rumors, "We aren't going to engage in speculation," said a CNN spokeswoman.
