Jared Lee Loughner had a minor run-in with the law less than three hours before he opened fire at that Tucson supermarket. A wildlife officer pulled Loughner over for running a red light at 7:30 that morning, the AP reports, but he let him go because there were no outstanding warrants on his license or registration.

It’s just the latest episode in what appears to have been a busy morning for the accused shooter. Earlier that morning, he ran into the desert to escape his father, who had seen him remove a black bag from the trunk of a family vehicle. Police are still looking for the bag.
