Obama's Approval Rating Jumps

Wins over more independents than not for first time since '09

(Newser) – President Obama’s approval rating jumped to 53% this month, an 8-point improvement over December, according to a new Wall Street Journal/NBC News poll. Even more significant: more independents held positive views than negative ones of the president for the first time since August 2009. Pollsters say the numbers may be inflated, however, because the survey was conducted in the wake of the Tucson shooting. The public overwhelmingly approved of Obama’s handling of the tragedy.

The public also trusts Obama to deal with the new Republican Congress, with 55% expecting him to strike the right balance between being flexible and sticking to his guns. But respondents doubt the GOP will meet him half way; 55% said Republicans would be too inflexible to deal with Obama, and only 25% said they’d bring positive change. For comparison, 42% thought the Democratic Congress ushered in in 2007 would bring positive change.

Sometimes I wish Obama would be more like Bush and give us all $600 whenever he needs a ratings boost. Damn Obama is doing it all on his own integrity. Stupid honorable presidents.

"Wins over more independents than not for first time since '09" Obama is not winning over more independents it is the new congress keeping him in check and getting rid of his disastrous programs that is winning. this leopard has and will not change his spots, don't be fooled by the spin.

It's unfortunate for Obama he has bandwagon supporters just as the Washington Redskins. Come on you adults stand for something. You can't vote a man in and then expect him to clean up your mess in two years. I am just a high school student and even I know that. The one thing President Obama can count on is that me and other like me turning 18 support him 100%. We the young could careless about race and dominance. Most of our parents are in debt up to there ears and for most of them it's all their faults. Stop over indulging and our President will not have to worry so much about the housing Market! Stop living above your means and put our college money in the bank. Subdivisions are just a showcase for a bunch of middle class people to compete and pretend to be something they are not. We the future generations don't want your debt or those debt collectors you call homes as an inheritance. We feel our parents would do so much better if they could just live according to their means and not there wants. Fathers stop killing your families because you can't live in your cozy little communities any more. You are phonies and you know it. We love you without all the materialistic items you shove down our throats. Our President loves his children and he shows it all the time. Most parents see their children as a tax right off. SAD SAD SAD. We love you now can you please stop putting our future in debt and blaming a man (our president) for your sorry mishaps. He can't fix the world and as President he is just the leader of a bigger corporation that controls your lives. Educated or not get a grip you are messing up our country not our president. You won't even protest gas because you are too lazy to walk. STAND FOR SOMETHING PEOPLE.
