Mubarak: I Want to Leave but I Can't

Hosni Mubarak tells ABC's Christiane Amanpour that he's tired of being president and would like to resign immediately, but fears Egypt would sink into even worse chaos if he did. Other early highlights from the interview:

• On the violence: He insists his government isn't responsible and blames the Muslim Brotherhood. "I was very unhappy about yesterday," he said. "I do not want to see Egyptians fighting each other."

• On the US: He called President Obama a good man, but said he told him, "You don't understand the Egyptian culture and what would happen if I step down now." Amanpour says he "wavered" when asked if he felt betrayed by the US, but the full response isn't up yet.
• About the shouts against him: "I don't care what people say about me. Right now I care about my country, I care about Egypt."
• Succession: He reiterated that he never intended that his son Gamal (who was present during the interview) would succeed him.
