(Newser) – There are three things you have to do when singing the National Anthem at the Super Bowl: Look good, hit the right notes, and sing the correct lyrics. Christina Aguilera is two for three. Aguilera, who isn't exactly an anthem novice (she sang the song at Game 7 of last year's NBA finals, notes the New York Daily News), botched the lyrics. What she was supposed to sing: "O'er the ramparts we watch'd, were so gallantly streaming." What she actually sang: "What so proudly we watched at the twilight's last reaming."

Twitter went wild, notes the Daily News, which shares this gem of a Tweet: "Egypt thanks Christina Aguilera for botching the national anthem and bumping them off the Twitter trending list." (And she wasn't the only celeb dealing with an embarrassing Super Bowl moment. Click for Cameron Diaz's blush-worthy moment.)

The National Anthem is hard to sing because it wasn't specifically written to be sung. Francis Scott Key wrote it as a Poem and was never intended to be sung. The National Anthem is actually longer than what is usually sung go here to hear the lost 4th verse.

Why come to Texas and drag in a bunch of pop singers who cain't sing. So some of you know what the song is supposed to be sung like and the words, here's some gals who care enough to even wash their damned hair before showing up in front of the world. There ain't no shortage of talent as indicated by the below links of even kiddo's singing the song! I'd shoot the booking start with! Listen to the crowd singing. LeAnne Rime Mariah carry even nailed it till she got her squelch too high! There's little girls who can sing it better!

They should do away with singing it(national anthem). It's always painful to listen to every time. The singer always trys to jazz it up, and drag it out. They should just let a marching band play it, or maybe just do away with it all together. I think everyone knows what country we are in.
