Lawyer hopes Nancy will avoid life sentence

(Newser) – Phillip and Nancy Garrido have confessed to kidnapping Jaycee Lee Dugard and holding her for 18 years, Nancy's defense attorney says. The confession was made in an effort to reduce Nancy's sentence, the Los Angeles Times reports: Authorities have offered her a plea deal of nearly 242 years to life, but her attorney says 20 to 30 years is more appropriate. "She's guilty, obviously, of kidnapping and a bunch of other charges," but "as far as being involved in any of the sexual stuff, she wasn't," he says.

"She should be able to walk on the beach, probably with a walker, at some point in time before she dies," he adds. Phillip is facing 440 years to life. Nancy's attorney says the couple met with investigators and gave a "full confession" within the last month. Before meeting Phillip, Nancy "had a normal life," her lawyer says. Then she got "enthralled" with Phillip, who was serving a 50-year sentence for kidnapping and rape, and got "in his grasp." Her lawyer says they will argue at trial that "she was under his thumb ... he's a master manipulator."

These creatures(I refuse to call them people and animals would be insulting to animals) do not deserve to breathe the same air as the rest of the world. They almost make terrorists look good. Execute both of them!

Oh I'd agree to shorten her time, maybe 5 years would be appropiate amount to knock off for his confession. However she doesn't deserve to walk the beach or even the sidewalk again.

She damn well knew what she was doing. Fry them both. They stole a whole life time Jaycee Lee. No proms, college or falling in love. They deserve nothing. Nancy could have at any time notified the authorities. She knew what she was doing and kept her locked in the back yard like a dog.
