It's been 'hard on my family,' says Queens electrician

(Newser) – A New Yorker charged with beating a woman into a coma in an argument over a parking space insists the 4-foot-11-inch victim struck the first blow. Lana Rosas, 25, is in critical condition and still unconscious more than a week after she struck her head on the pavement during the fight. Queens electrician Oscar Fuller, 35, says he hit her "out of reflex" after Rosas smacked him for trying back his car into a Manhattan parking space she was saving for her boyfriend. "She hit first," he told the New York Daily News.

"I'm very, very sorry for the situation she's going through," said Fuller, who faces up to seven years in prison if convicted of the assault charges against him. "It crushed my whole family. It crushed her family as well," he added. Click for more.

He had to take her out, she was as big as a 12 year old.

What does irk me though is all the headlines that say "Man beat woman into coma." Sounds more like he hit her once, and she fell and hit her head on the curb. That's a totally different situation than beating someone into a coma. For what it's worth. Not defending the guy, he screwed up.

Well, he's a prick. Probably should serve some (more?) time. She really should have been smarter. Keep your heads, people.
