US: Strikes on Libya to Slow

Coalition hits Libya for third night

(Newser) – Coalition forces pounded targets in Libya for a third night yesterday, but the general leading US forces says the pace of air attacks is likely to slow soon. The campaign to destroy Moammar Gadhafi's air defenses and establish a no-fly zone is almost complete, and American officials are seeking to hand over leadership of the operation to European allies, reports the New York Times.

"My sense is that unless something unusual or unexpected happens, we may see a decline in the frequency of attacks, " said Gen. Carter Ham. Coalition forces aren't attempting to provide air cover for rebels, he added, warning of a potentially long stalemate between Gadhafi's forces and the rebels, AP reports. President Obama says that he expects control of the operation to be handed over within days. "It is US policy that Gadhafi needs to go,” he told reporters. “And we’ve got a wide range of tools in addition to our military effort to support that policy."

Never Fear! The Arab League is sending 4 F-16s from Qatar to be based in Italy to assist the Coalition! They will fly CAPs (Combat Air Patrols) over their assigned base (in Italy). As soon as we run Gadhafi out of the country we will turn it over to the Rebels (Al Qaeda)!

"the pace of air attacks is likely to slow soon" they runnin out of teachers to lay off to pay for the missiles? I think it's something like 20 or 30 teachers salaries per launch? But that's ok. The kiddies still have Call of Duty 4 to practice. I mean play.
