Guess What's Loose at the Bronx Zoo?!

A very deadly Egyptian cobra that someone might want to put back in a cage

(Newser) – So the Bronx Zoo seems to have misplaced a pesky little thing we like to call a very deadly, aggressive Egyptian cobra, reports the New York Post. The 20-inch adolescent went missing yesterday, and workers who scoured all the likely places it would hide still haven't found it, reports the New York Daily News. The Zoo's Reptile House will remain closed until they locate it. "We are informing the public out of an abundance of caution," the zoo said in a statement.

This is an Egyptian cobra. Not to be confused with the spitting, Pakistani, monocle, king, spectacle, or water cobras that your ophiophobic editor had to sift through.

As for me, I’ve been spending the afternoon on Best Buy’s website- trying to figure out which welcoming mat I should get should the Bronx snake turn up next to the tin cans of discarded moonshine juice I like to keep in the hallway. One has to offer as much encouragement as possible. So far, I’ve settled on the boysenberry matt finish rug, but I must admit the tethered daffodil Emu rug looked appealing too. http://scallywagandvagabond.com/2011/03/did-a-missing-cobra-snake-turn-in-your-living-room-yet/
