Woman Who Claimed Rape at Gadhafi HQ: Parents Iman al-Obeidi still missing By Kate Seamons, Newser Staff Posted Mar 28, 2011 1:47 PM CDT 9 comments Comments Iman Al-Obeidi, who said she spent two days in detention after being arrested at a checkpoint in Tripoli, Libya, and sexually assaulted by up to 15 men while in custody shouts to tell her story. (AP Photo/Jerome Delay) (Newser) – Iman al-Obeidi is still missing—but her parents think they know where she is. In interviews broadcast on Al-Jazeera TV today, they said their daughter, who was last seen Saturday after rushing into a Tripoli hotel to tell reporters that she had been attacked by 15 men, is being held hostage at the Libyan leader's compound in Bab Al-Aziziya, reports the AP. The mother says she received a phone call today from an unidentified caller, purportedly from the Gadhafi camp, telling her al-Obeidi is at the compound and that she should tell her daughter to backtrack on the rape claim. "Whatever you ask for, you will get: build a new house or get the money," the mother said the caller offered. During the interview, al-Obeidi's father showed a photo that he says shows his daughter graduating from law school. Officials had said she worked as a prostitute; he says she was pursuing a postgraduate degree.
