Pedophile Guide Author Gets Probation

Phillip Greaves won't need to register as sex offender

(Newser) – The author of a how-to book for pedophiles has been sentenced to two years' probation for distributing obscene material depicting minors engaged in harmful conduct, reports the BBC. Phillip Greaves was arrested after sending a copy of his guide to undercover police in Florida. The Pedophile's Guide to Love and Pleasure: a Child-lover's Code of Conduct had sparked outrage when Greaves offered it for sale on Amazon. He will serve the sentence in his home state Colorado and won't be required to register as a sex offender.

(NEWSER) - Outrage over The Pedophile’s Guide to Love and Pleasure may have convinced Amazon.com to stop selling the book, despite the company’s initial insistence that to do so would be “censorship.” The controversial e-book is no longer available on the site, Gawker notes, though it’s not immediately apparent who removed it. Another byproduct of all the attention: Sales of the book went up by more than 101,000%. It went from No. 158,221 on Amazon’s list of best-selling Kindle books to No. 146 in less than a day. (NEWSER) - Parents in King’s Park, Scotland, are outraged over a local school’s suggestion that the way their children dress might attract sexual predators. In the wake of the arrest of an alleged local predator, the school has sent out a letter telling parents that “an appropriate school uniform (eg school trousers, knee-length school skirt etc) protects children from being targeted by sexual predator,” according to the BBC . Police Bust Massive International Pedophile Ring

184 people arrested in more than 30 countries

(NEWSER) - Teachers, police officers, and scout leaders were among the 184 people arrested today as police busted what Europol is calling "probably the largest online pedophile network in the world." Some 230 children were rescued from people suspected of abusing them in more than 30 countries as a result of the three-year investigation. The ring was centered on a heavily encrypted Amsterdam-based online forum called boylover.net, which the AP reports has up to 70,000 members. More»
