Spelling Bee Certificate Fails at Spelling
Emily White was moved to post this photo online, after receiving this certificate for her dominant performance in the "Dallas County Speling Bee." She has won the contest three of the past five years.   (Lamebook)

We present, for your snickering pleasure, this image of a rather dubious certificate, which was presented on Monday to junior high school student Emily White in honor of her victory in the "Dallas County Speling Bee." White, who has won the competition in three of the past five years, posted the image online, and it has been bandied about the Internet from there.

Jeffrey Weiss of the Dallas Morning News decided to get to the bottom of this, so he called the school district to see how they'd failed in such epic fashion. The school at first said that the copy on their computer was fine, but then revealed that they'd printed the certificate before spelchecking it—er, I mean, spellchecking it.
