Two Cops Eyed in LI Serial Killer Case
Both NYPD officers had run-ins with prostitutes

(Newser) – There was already some speculation that the Long Island serial killer might be a cop, and now the New York Post reports that two NYPD officers are being eyed in the case, both of whom got into trouble related to prostitutes. One was forced to resign in the 1990s when supervisors discovered he hired hookers while on the job. The other was accused of assaulting a prostitute, but after an internal investigation went nowhere, he was allowed to continue working for the force but was stripped of his gun and badge.

Sources tell the Post Suffolk County detectives started looking at NYPD cops last month, but that the officers are not the sole focus of the investigation. It’s not clear whether the two cops know each other or if there is any evidence against them. Click to see why the DA believes there are two killers.
