Movie Starring Pitt, Penn Booed at Cannes

Terrence Malick's 'The Tree of Life' divides audience

(Newser) – Terrence Malick's much buzzed-about film, The Tree of Life, was screened for critics and reporters at Cannes today to prolonged boos from certain members of the audience. But others countered with enthusiastic applause for the film, which stars Brad Pitt and Sean Penn and is only the fifth film Malick has made in a nearly 40-year career, the AP reports.

The movie is an epic drama about creation and a family, with Brad Pitt as the stern patriarch and Penn playing Pitt's oldest son as a grown man. Some audience members complained Malick went over the top with the creation part, including some cosmic scenes that went on for 15 minutes or longer with no humans to be found. Sean Penn sucks as both an actor and a person. That's probably what they were booing.

Ass long as Hollywood spends all it's budget on star saleries and producer profits they will continue to produce crap movies.  Get some decent writting would be good for a change.
