(Newser) – LeBron James gave his detractors a whole new reason to hate him in his post-game press conference last night, essentially telling them that he’d rather have his life than theirs. “At the end of the day, all the people that was rooting on me to fail … they gotta wake up tomorrow and have the same life that they had before they woke up today,” he said. “They got the same personal problems that they had today. And I’m gonna continue to live the way I wanna live.”

One of those people rooting for LeBron to fail? Cleveland Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert, of course. Roughly 15 minutes after the game, the AP spotted this tweet from Gilbert: "Congrats to Mark C.& entire Mavs org. Mavs NEVER stopped & now entire franchise gets rings. Old Lesson for all: There are NO SHORTCUTS. NONE." Former teammate Mo Williams was of the same mind. "Dallas just healed my HEART," he tweeted. How sad, I won't wake up tomorrow and be a cocky, uneducated douche bag who doesn't even deserve 1% of the money that he's "earned".

I don't care much for LeBron James, but I don't think he said what the headline implies.

Many of you are correct, he didn't say the headline...but unfortunately for him, most people interpreted his comments that way. It's hard not to. These guys don't seem to realize that they are brands, and the fans have relationships with their brands. People in Miami won't care, and he will get paid handsomely to play. But he doesn't help his brand any when he acts this way. That said, he's made enough money that it probably doesn't matter to him. Why people care, I'll never know, but then again the entire E! Channel and Hollywood idolatry is something I don't really understand. Ok, gotta run and find out what LiLo is up to ; - )
