(Newser) – Investigators are poring over film footage of a missing college student from New York and searching for a truck spotted circling her apartment building before she vanished early this month. Lauren Spierer is seen smiling broadly on surveillance footage as she walks down the hall of her apartment building near her Indiana college dressed in black pants and a white shirt for a night on the town. "She's a happy, smiling, beautiful young lady on her way out for the evening. That's the Lauren we're looking for," her father, Robert Spierer, said at a news conference yesterday as police released copies of the tape.

Investigators also released footage of a white four-door pickup circling the block around Lauren's Bloomington apartment building when she returned that night and just before she vanished, reports the New York Daily News. Police have received thousands of tips, and are interviewing friends, acquaintances and anyone who spotted the Indiana University sophomore before she disappeared. "She's very dear to us. We want to get her back just to embrace her and tell her we love her," said her dad.
