Beck Ditching East Coast for $20K-a-Month Texas Mansion

(Newser) – Glenn Beck must be properly sick of getting wine spilled on him, because he is getting out of the tri-state area and heading for the roomy expanse of Texas. Beck sold his Connecticut mansion for $3.6 million and will be moving into a Dallas-area estate owned by baseball player Jorge Piedra, the New York Daily News reports. The place was for sale for $3.9 million, but Beck will be leasing it instead for $20,000 a month.

Mystery buyer snaps up One57 duplex

(NEWSER) - A mystery buyer has smashed a New York City record by shelling out more than $90 million for a duplex penthouse, reports the New York Times . The 10,923-square-foot property—with 23-foot ceilings—occupies the 89th and 90th floors of One57, a midtown residential building that is still under construction. Gary Barnett, president of Extell Development Company, has declined to reveal the exact price, but says it didn't break the $100 million barrier. More»

(NEWSER) - Banks initiated the fewest number of foreclosures since 2007 last quarter, according to new figures from the Mortgage Bankers Associations. But don't be too quick to don the rose-colored glasses: The number of loans in foreclosure remains stubbornly high at 4.4%—down only a hair from last year's 4.5%, in part because some states require courts to oversee foreclosures, drawing out the process. Located in Fall River, Massachusetts, the Queen Anne Victorian dubbed Maplecroft is on the market for $650,000, reports the local Herald News . Lizzie lived in another house in the same town in 1892 when her father and stepmother were murdered with an axe. She was the only suspect but was found not guilty.
