(Newser) – It's every mother's nightmare: A carjacker forced his way into a 24-year-old woman's car at a Baltimore gas station last night—and drove away while she and her 20-month-old baby were still inside. And as 22-year-old Terron White led police on a chase from I-95 to the Capitol Beltway, the mom jumped out, ABC7 reports. The baby was unharmed and her mother was treated for a head laceration at a nearby hospital.

White, who police say hit two cars during the chase and at one point tried to elude them by driving without his headlights, finally pulled over in Bethesda. He faces charges of fleeing and eluding police, hit and run, and negligent driving.
