(Newser) – Martin Erat had a hand in all three of of Nashville's goals in the Predators' 3-2 defeat of the first-place Red Wings last night, AP reports. The Predators had six penalties in the first period alone, and both Detroit goals came on power plays. In other frosty Thanksgiving-day action:

  • Chicago had only 14 shots on goal in a 2-1 victory over Calgary, as Nikolai Kabibulin stopped 30 shots by the Flames.
  • Colorado was 0-for-14 on the power play but still managed to take down Edmonton, 3-2, to climb back atop the Northwest Division standings.
