(Newser) – Illinois Congressman Luis Gutierrez is making a habit of this: For the second time in two years, the Democrat got arrested outside the White House in an immigration protest, reports the Hill. Gutierrez has criticized the Obama administration for allowing too many deportations and for not pushing hard enough for the DREAM Act, which would provide a path to citizenship for students who are illegal immigrants.

“The president says that Republicans in Congress are blocking immigration reform, but that doesn’t let him off the hook,” says a spokesman for Gutierrez. “That’s the point of this event, and the point made yesterday when protesters interrupted Obama’s speech." He was referring to the cool reception the president got from the National Council of La Raza, the largest Hispanic civil rights group in the US, notes the Washington Post.

I guess if that's what it takes to get your point across to the POTUS maybe that's what it takes. I wish Boner and the Tea Party folks would do the same, maybe we'd get a deal done.

Wait, a congressman who is actually standing up for what he believes in? Oh what crazy times we live in. Kudos, Mr. Representative.

I'm cool with the Dream Act but La Raza can suck my balls.
