(AP) - A Las Vegas strip club has agreed to stop an advertising promotion that involved hauling bikini-clad exotic dancers around in a truck. Larry Beard, marketing director of Déjà Vu Showgirls, said today he's taking his lawyer's advice and parking the truck. (NEWSER) - The man accused of killing rapper Dolla claims the shooting was self defense, reports the Los Angeles Times. Police arrested Aubrey Louis Berry, 23, for shooting the rapper in the head at an Los Angeles shopping center Monday. The suspect's attorney said Dolla and friends had recently attacked Berry outside an Atlanta strip club, and that he believed Dolla was reaching for a gun after another confrontation In LA. More»

Historic paper ceasing daily publication

(NEWSER) - Sad news from one of America's great newspapers: The New Orleans Times-Picayune has announced that it will cease daily publication this fall. The paper, founded as the Picayune in 1837, will now offer print editions just three days a week, on Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday, while continuing to offer daily reporting online at Nola.com, reports the Washington Post . The move is expected to cost close to a third of the paper's 150 reporters their jobs, and will leave New Orleans as the biggest American city without a daily paper. More»

Owner unconcerned after woman drops in ridiculously unhealthy restaurant

(NEWSER) - You can't say they didn't warn her: A woman collapsed at the Heart Attack Grill this weekend, just two months after the last time someone had a heart attack at the cheerfully morbid Las Vegas eatery. The woman was whisked away by paramedics and her condition is currently unknown. Owner Jon Basso tells the LA Times that he hopes she's OK, but that she knew what she was getting into.
