Friends, family, and teammates paid final respects to Sean Taylor today at the slain football star’s funeral, the Miami Herald reports. About 3,000 people crowded FIU’s Pharmed Arena, including dozens of current and former NFL players, O.J. Simpson among them. In his eulogy, Jesse Jackson looked for lessons in the senseless tragedy.

''Even champions live in danger. None of us will say that our homes are safe. We've accepted violence as the norm. It must be rejected,” Jackson said. The service ran for more than 3 hours. "The NFL is proud of Sean Taylor,” said commissioner Roger Goodell. “He loved football and football loved him back.” (More Sean Taylor stories.)
