Kris Humphries is not having a good week. He told TMZ yesterday he was blindsided by wife Kim Kardashian’s decision to file for divorce, and insists he is “committed to this marriage and everything this covenant represents” and “willing to do whatever it takes to make it work.” Kardashian, on the other hand, seems to be taking the harsher road: The Huffington Post reports that, according to the divorce documents, she wants the court to reject any spousal support requests from Humphries. HuffPo also points to a June story from Us that delves into the prenup: All Kardashian’s assets prior to the marriage, as well as her earnings during their time together, are protected, while Humphries is entitled to nothing if the marriage fails. At the time, a source said, “He agreed to that. He’s not worried.” Adding insult to injury: Kim also gets to keep the $2 million ring, TMZ notes.
Of course, the “what happened?!” stories continue to be trotted out: People points to a scene from an upcoming episode of Kourtney and Kim Take New York in which Kim gripes, “How am I going to have my career and live in Minnesota?” (Watch at left for Kris’ response; it’s a classic.) But sources tell TMZ the truth is that Kris began “chasing fame” as soon as the marriage began to fall apart, and wanted to start “branding” his name and making nightclub appearances. Kim—who didn’t decide until Sunday night to file for divorce—was especially upset that Kris hired a publicist, complaining, “He’s not in f**king Hollywood. He plays sports.” Or maybe (our vote is on this one), the whole thing was a “hoax and a publicity stunt,” as sources tell Radar. “Kim was never in love with Kris. Kris certainly wasn’t in love with Kim,” says one. “It was pretty much an arranged marriage right from the start,” says another. “She was never particularly attracted to him, and by all accounts absolutely hated sleeping with him or even having to make out with him.” Click for an infographic showing where Kim and Kris fall on the list of shortest celebrity marriages.
