(NEWSER) - The 2012 Pulitzer Prizes are out, and for the first time in 35 years a Pulitzer for fiction is not among them, reports the AP , which itself snagged an award for its series on NYPD spying. Without further ado, the list of winners:

• Public service: Philadelphia Inquirer
• Breaking news reporting: The Tuscaloosa (Ala.) News staff
• Investigative reporting: Matt Apuzzo, Adam Goldman, Eileen Sullivan and Chris Hawley of the AP, and Michael J. Berens and Ken Armstrong of the Seattle Times
• Explanatory reporting: David Kocieniewski of the New York Times

(NEWSER) - Jeff Bercovici calculated that if the $105 million class action suit against the Huffington Post ends in a burst of glory for the site's 9,000 unpaid bloggers, they'll each get a check for $11,666. Freelancer Jonathan Tasini brings suit, claims 'implied' compensation

(NEWSER) - Freelance writer Jonathan Tasini has filed a class-action lawsuit against the Huffington Post/AOL, seeking $105 million in damages for the hundreds of unpaid bloggers toiling for the site. Tasini tells the Washington Post that there was an “implied promise” of compensation for those writers. “Some people were given some promises about future payments,” he said, without elaborating. He’s also accusing Arianna Huffington and the site’s other owners of “unjust enrichment” for building their business on unpaid labor. More»

(USER SUBMITTED) - Two Democratic political consultants are alleging, in a lawsuit filed in New York State Court, that Arianna Huffington and her business partner stole their blueprint for the website now called the Huffington Post, reports Ben Smith for Politico.
