Looks like the controversial Keystone XL pipeline won't be an election issue after all. The White House is going to push back the decision on whether to allow it to be built for another year, reports the Washington Post. Specifically, officials will consider a new route through Nebraska for the pipeline, which is supposed to carry oil from Canada to Texas.
“The way I understand it, the process will be altered and altered to make sure all of our concerns are considered,” the president of the National Wildlife Federation tells the New York Times. The NWF and other environmental groups hate the plan—as do plenty of affected ranchers and farmers—but proponents say it will create jobs all along the 1,700-mile route.
