Darth Vader showed up at a Ukrainian city hall this week: “I have come for a land plot...for my space cruiser,” the costumed man told Odessa officials. It wasn't so much a joke as a protest: The city recently decided to provide a number of people with free seaside plots of land, Reuters reports; though the mayor says the decision was a mistake, locals think it smacks of corruption.
"I heard that land is being carved up in the city of Odessa, and that many deputies, city administration, and the mayor have joined the dark side," said Vader. The city accepted his application—though not until he removed his helmet. “The application has been registered and will be considered,” a rep for the mayor said.
