(Newser) – Asked if he had anybody in mind for VP if he won the Republican nomination, Mitt Romney said "I have no names for you, it’s presumptuous, I’m not the nominee," before naming one name: Kelly Ayotte. Romney said the senator from New Hampshire, who endorsed him over the weekend, was just one of probably "15 names of people," ABC reports.

"We have a deep bench,” Romney said. “This year is really exceptional and whoever our nominee is will be able to choose a remarkable, superb person to be the vice presidential contender." Ayotte, who joined Romney for part of an interview on Fox's Hannity, offered a few more names for him to consider, saying Marco Rubio would be an "excellent choice," and also suggested Paul Ryan, Bob McDonnell, and Susana Martinez.

I can't even get past how conceited this is. He thinks he's already the nominee naming potential VP's? Please. Obama gets my vote if Mitt is the nominee, for sure. Oh and Newsflash Mitt: you have Gingrich and Paul right on your tail. Don't be so confident.

A strong bench? Maybe, but your starting lineup is a bunch of .200 hitters and your pitching is erratic, at best.

Smart move by Mitt to grab some female votes.
