Allen Iverson became the first Nuggets player in 12 years to score 51 points in a game, but his slow fourth quarter allowed Kobe Bryant to lead the Lakers to a 111-107 victory, the Rocky Mountain News reports. "I think he fatigued a bit," said Denver's coach of Iverson, who played all 48 minutes. Elsewhere in the world of hoops:

  • With Stephon Marbury still grieving the death of his father and Eddy Curry a last-minute scratch, New York still pulled off a 100-93 win over a Jason Kidd-less New Jersey.
  • Detroit trailed New Orleans by 15 points in the first quarter, but came back to win 91-76 and stretch their win streak to five.
