New York Bullying Victim Kills Herself

Staten Island teen walks in front of bus

(Newser) – A Staten Island 15-year-old whose family said she got bullied at school has died after walking in front of a bus holding a suicide note, reports the Daily News. Classmates had taken the belongings of Amanda Cummings and even made mean comments on her Facebook page after the incident, her uncle said. "I’m not going to tolerate this. I’m gonna go full force," said Keith Cummings. "Kids can't do this to each other."

Amanda was a "beautiful, healthy, happy, normal young girl," said a cousin, but when it came to troubles at school, "she was pretty quiet about it." She was friends with an 18-year-old boy, which apparently made girls in her grade jealous. "She didn’t phrase it so much to the family but made little comments here and there ... in journals, online or through her Facebook page," said Brandy Henderson, adding that the family had been "trying to deal with" the issue. “I don’t feel anything towards (the bullies) except sadness that it had to lead to something like this."

hey im actually doing a paper on teen suicide and from all the research JoeQ you are right with the hormones, but elderban you are also right with the depression and dude she could have had a lot worse going on aside from the bullying that no one knows about.

Bullying has a lot to do with hormones.  Its worst around puberty.

Not siding with the bullies, but anyone that is willing to kill themselves over being bullied is already dealing with depression, and perhaps that is what the parents should be treating, not going after the bullies themselves. To those being bullied, life's a bitch, some people are mean and it ain't going to get any easier after high school, so buck up. One thing to remember, though, is that after high school, what happened in high school won't matter any more. You'll realize that who was popular or who was the "jock" or anything like that has no bearing whatsoever on life in the real world. And chances are that those that bullied you will go on to lead pretty miserable lives themselves. That being said, when bullying turns to physical altercations then, yes, someone should step in. A child that is willing to harm others for the way they are or act will do the same in their later years. For the record, I was bullied in high school myself, but never let it get the better of me. I just laugh today because those that bullied me are now leading miserable lives. Karma and all that. Peace.
