Jakadrien Turner should be home in Dallas tonight

(Newser) – The bizarre tale of Jakadrien Turner may be close to a happy ending. The 15-year-old is back in the US after being mistakenly deported to Colombia months ago, her mother tells AP. She is expected to catch a final flight to her hometown of Dallas later tonight. Mom Johnisa Turner says she has a "gazillion questions" for her daughter, who ran away from home more than a year ago.

After that, things get fuzzy. She got picked up for shoplifting, gave a fake name of a Colombian woman born in 1990, and apparently stuck to it all through her criminal proceeding and deportation hearing. She wound up in living and working in Bogota (she is not fluent in Spanish) before the story began to unravel. "Just as long as she makes it home, just as long as she gets here," says her mom.

I find it shocking anyone expected a single arm of the US government to function correctly from the get go.

We have at least 12 million illegals in this country we do not deport, but we are able to deport someone who is not an illegal alien.  And yet so many Newser trolls want the federal government in charge of even more stuff.  Isn't that the definition of insanity?
