(Newser) – When asked what he would do in response to a racial profiling scandal targeting Latinos in the town of East Haven, Connecticut, Mayor Joseph Maturo quipped that he might eat some tacos, and now he can: More than 2,000 tacos were delivered to the mayor's office yesterday. The taco campaign was devised by the advocate group Reform Immigration for America and went viral through texts, tweets, and other social networking, reports MSNBC.

Maturo was out of the office when the tacos arrived, and he later issued a statement saying that the tacos would be delivered to local soup kitchens. The statement also notes, "The abundance of tacos that we received today underscores the importance of the issues currently facing the town of East Haven and highlights the need for the town to continue the process of healing and reform." But Reform Immigration for America says it, not Maturo, came up with the soup kitchen idea.

Not kidding: this is one of the most un-creative, pointless attempts at "protesting" i've ever seen.

A pointless waste of an awful lot of food. An immature response to an immature comment.

I love Tacos too. Will someone deliver me 2k of them to Brazil please. Address will be provided on confirmation. And talking of Tacos, take a look at what the USDA allow Taco Bell to put in them. Watch the video at the bottom. It will ensure that you never eat another one. This happens because McDonald's and USDA employees are interchangeable. Lobbyists and corruption yet again. Shades of Monsanto. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2092127/Jamie-Oliver-Victory-McDonalds-stops-using-pink-slime-burger-recipe.html And you can call me...............Mr Joshua
