NYC Hotel Housekeepers Will Get Panic Buttons

They'll be able to summon help in a hurry while in a guest's room

(Newser) – The Dominique Strauss-Kahn saga may have resulted in dropped charges, but hotel staff in New York City will soon get little reminders of the case in the form of personal panic buttons, reports the New York Times. As part of a proposed new contract, the city's major hotels will provide housekeepers and waiters with buttons they can press to summon help if they feel endangered in a guest's room. They'll probably be happier with a different provision: one that raises the salary of a typical housekeeper from $46,000 to $60,000 over seven years.

when do our children get such devices? Help- I'm being beaten down by bullies and can't get up... Help- I'm being subject to a blind tasting game and can't get away... Help- I've fallen in a Penn State locker room, and coach won't let me up... Help- I'm playing at a park and there's some creepy guy sitting on his porch staring at me with a weird smile, while it appears he's rapidly churning butter or something...

A house keeper is going to make 60k a year? Good ol' dictating the private sector. Prepare to pay $250 a night for a hotel room.
