ESPN Sorry for Awful Jeremy Lin Headline

It said 'chink in the armor' after last night's loss

(Newser) – ESPN apologized today for some badly chosen words in the wake of Jeremy Lin's first loss as a New York Knick: A headline on its mobile site read "Chink in the armor" for about a half-hour before getting yanked, reports Outsports.com. A network statement called the headline "offensive" and promised a "complete review" of how it came to be. It didn't say whether the double entendre was intentional, but concluded, "We regret and apologize for this mistake."

The writer was Asian-American.  Quit taking everything so seriously.

Someone got a good laugh writing that headline, they might have even showed it to a buddy and said "check this out, lol!"  nobody's laughing now.     Some workforce diversity and diversity awareness on the ESPN team  might make for a more aware editorial staff.  Someone could have said "You might want to rethink running that headline..."

Yah, there's no way in hell that whoever wrote that headline didn't see the obvious flaw. That was intentional. You'd have to be a complete moron to write that up about a Chinese athlete, and not go, "Oh, shit, click. Whew, glad nobody saw that."
