(Newser) – Prince Pierre Casiraghi of Monaco, the 24-year-old grandson of Princess Grace, found himself in less-than-classy circumstances on Saturday when a fight over vodka and supermodels broke out between his entourage and another group at a Manhattan nightclub, sending the prince to the hospital. Casiraghi had been partying with a group including Paris Hilton ex Stavros Niarchos III when his group walked up to another table around 2:30am, witnesses tell the New York Post. At that table was former Manhattan club owner Adam Hock and a few models; members of that group say the prince and his pals "were being completely obnoxious," dissing the models and swiping drinks from a $500 bottle of vodka on the table.

"The next thing I saw, all hell broke loose," says one witness. Hock allegedly punched the prince, who "flew across the room and landed on a table on the other side," the source continues. The brawl got worse—Niarchos was also reportedly hit—and the models tried to break it up. Prince Pierre was left looking "like he needed plastic surgery," an onlooker says; the prince was taken in for treatment but released later Saturday. Hock was charged with four counts of third-degree assault, but he insists he was "defending" himself and wonders why the prince isn't "handcuffed."

Fighting at a club that sells 500 dollar bottles of vodka... what a bunch of assholes. I bet none of them have any clue about what they should really fight over. So out of touch with the rest of the world...

Just for the sake of accuracy, Pierre is not a prince.  None of Princess Caroline's children, with the exception of her child by Prince Ernst of Hanover, Princess Alexandra, are titled.  The press routinely refers to Pierre, Andrea and their sister Charlotte as prince and princess.  Caroline did not ask for titles for her children from her father, Prince Rainier III, and they themselves have not sought them from their uncle, Prince Albert II of Monaco.

If someone violates your personal space and gets aggresive, you should have the right to defend yourself. If you wait for someone to throw a punch or worse, you might end up dead before you have a chance.
