(Newser) The Hunger Games swallowed the competition for a second weekend in a row, gobbling up $61.1 million to cross the $250 million threshold in just 10 days—the fastest ever for a non-sequel, notes the Hollywood Reporter. Hunger Games dwarfed new entrants on the scene Wrath of the Titans, which pulled in $34.2 million, and Julia Roberts' latest, Mirror Mirror, which saw only $19 million on the wall. Globally, Hunger Games has now pulled down $364.9 million. Rounding out the top 10:

  1. Jump Street, $15 million
  2. Dr Seuss' The Lorax, $8 million
  3. John Carter, $2 million
  4. Salmon Fishing in the Yemen, $1.3 million
  5. Act of Valor, $1 million
  6. A Thousand Words, $915,000
  7. Journey 2: The Mysterious Island, $835,000

I am in love with the franchise.  A Social Darwinistic future, with gladiatorial fights and no social welfare...sounds like Heaven!

Sure hope Lionsgate doesn't go bankrupt after this, you know, because of all the pirating.

Eh. Not the worst ever made. Jennifer Lawrence makes it, but Winter's Bone was a far better movie.
